Sounds Commercial in partnership with the Grand Pier Weston-super-Mare produced one of the largest ever recruitment drives in the South West with a 2 day event that aimed to fill more than 250 vacancies in all parts of the Grand Pier operations. The Grand Pier was tragically destroyed by fire in 2008 and owners Kerry & Michelle Michael have invested more than £39m in this fantastic redevelopment programme.
The Grand Pier team were very specific about the kind of people required, looking for the highest calibre of person for such a high-profile and dynamic business. To enable this, Sounds Commercial were involved right from the inception of the event, conducting a comprehensive venue search of the region before settling on the Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare for this large scale recruitment drive. The Ballroom was transformed into a lively, fun environment with the theme of Weston’s Got Talent being used to captivate the audience’s attention. This generated excitement with colourful branding of the entire space and a specifically produced large screen and set showing the development of the Grand Pier re-construction interspersed with photos detailing the aftermath of the fire.
Over the course of 2 days, nearly 2,000 candidates were comprehensively registered; capturing identification and supplying detailed application forms for completion. On arrival at the Ballroom, all candidates were individually met and escorted by the Sounds Commercial event management team to specific tables to their work area of interest and assisted with their application form process, before being individually interviewed in one of the 14 bespoke interview booths.
Peter Angelides, AGM Group Managing Director said "We are in the business of selling ‘fun’ whilst delivering the highest standards of customer service".
Sounds Commercial are proud to be a strategic partner with Grand Pier Weston-super-Mare and ensured that these standards of customer service were exceeded on this high profile event ensuring the highest calibre of person were considered for the fantastic opportunity of working on what will be one of the leading tourist attractions in the UK.
