Sounds Commercial are proud to have provided the AV for the opening of the country’s biggest robotics laboratory today at the University of the West of England. The lab was opened by Minister of State for Universities and Sciences, David Willetts.
The centre is a partnership between the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England and covers a total area of around 2,400 sqm, with over 300m of specialised laboratory space and two Flying Arenas.
The 2012 Peak District & Derbyshire Tourism Conference took place yesterday at the award winning Pavilion Gardens, Buxton. This year’s theme, Inspired by You, aims to highlight everyone and everything (including food and drink) that makes the Peak District such a great and unique place to visit.
As well as providing the stage signage and technical support, Sounds Commercial are proud to be one of the sponsors of this event.
Speaking at the Conference was His Grace the Duke of Devonshire, Tideswell Village Champion Tim Nicholls and celebrity chef Simon Rimmer. Simon, the presenter and resident chef on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch programme, challenged two local chefs to produce a two-course meal in thirty minutes using seasonal, local produce.
The event also included an exhibition with around 60 stalls showcasing the best local providers and producers have to offer to both the conference delegates and the general public.
We are delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with Matthew Clark as we gear up for seven regional roadshows which will take place during April and May, allowing their staff to engage and interact with the new brand concepts and guidelines.
We get the ball rolling in the Midlands before travelling around the country to launch the new branding to all staff.
Friday, 23 March 2012 was party night again at the Novotel in Sheffield.
This time it was a Greek themed night for a valued member of staff who had been promoted to General Manager at another of the chain’s hotels.
Once again the Novotel wanted to have a fun night and called on our Sheffield branch to help with the party. A small stage area with a Parthenon backdrop with Grecian columns and a golden seat were the main focus of the night where the staff member was seated during the course of events.
Using LED star cloth, LED par cans and moving lights we added some glitz to the night transforming the room into a party setting for the dinner and disco.
A rear projection screen was used to the right hand side utilising the vacant room next door for projection and on the screen was a holding slide with the Parthenon, Greek flag and a good luck message in Greek and also English rotating between the 2 languages. Two videos were also played on the screen for the staff member to reminisce about his time at the hotel.
In true Greek style there was a dance to the music from Zorba the Greek before handing over to the DJ for the disco. A great night was had by all and the Team at Sounds Commercial enjoyed being a part of the night and ensuring it all went smoothly.

Sounds Commercial are gearing up for providing the audio visual and technical support for this week’s Glasstap Trainers Conference 2012.
Taking place on the 22nd & 23rd March at Tortworth Court it is the must attend event for professional business trainers, combining inspirational speakers, interactive workshops, personal development and networking opportunities in a setting that is fun and informal.
Being the year of the London Olympics, what better keynote speaker to inspire delegates to believe in themselves than gold medal Olympian, Sally Gunnell? Sally is going to be supported by an incredible cast of speakers and workshop hosts.
In 2012, for the first time, they have another keynote speaker who will open the conference with an energetic and captivating presentation. Jim Lawless will talk about his ten rules and recount his experiences proving their validity.
We worked with Jim last year at The Jelf Sales Conference and are very much looking forward to doing so once again.
The Bristol Marriott City Centre Hotel’s annual staff awards night ‘The MAFTAs’ took place in the hotel’s Bristol Suite last Sunday.
As well as kitting out the room with a glamorous star cloth set and moving lights, Sounds Commercial also provided a funky ‘chill out’ area complete with illuminated LED furniture.
The theme for the evening was Famous Bristol so our studio team produced a bespoke opening video which captured the imaginations of the audience and showcased what the city has to offer. We also sourced some ‘Bristol themed’ entertainment in the form of local graffiti artist Andy Council who took to the stage during dinner to create an amazing, eight foot long ‘Famous Bristol’ Dinosaur.
Thanks to Andy and the Sounds Commercial team for all their hard work.
‘It was a good time had by all’, James Laverick, Director of Event Management, Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre.
Sounds Commercial kick start the year with the Affinion ACE Awards 2012. With leading European live entertainment and music acts for over 600 people and a bespoke 40ft screen utilising state of the art HD projectors, Saturday’s show should be one to remember!
Call back next week for a full show rundown.
The food and drink awards went extremely well and a great night was enjoyed by all.
Again, Sounds Commercial provided the optimum solution for the room size and layout with the use of star cloth, felt covered panels, logo board, lighting and sound.
We also looked after the music trio that were playing during dinner to avoid them having to set up their own equipment.
We had some great feedback from the client on how the event was received by the attendees.
The Pattonair Conference and Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropol exceeded expectations yet again and we had a great time working with Linda and Jo from Pattonair.
The set looked amazing, the animated globe proved to be a real talking point and the guest speaker Steve “interesting” Davis went down a storm.
We had great feedback on how the set design and large format plasma screen really complimented this event and we are looking forward to doing it all again at next year’s event.
Linda Whyld, PA to Group Supply Chain Director, Pattonair said:
“I just wanted to say on behalf of our own team how brilliant (as always) the stage set was and how good it was to work with you again. Your advice, experience and expertise are greatly appreciated by the presenters – especially those who’s first time it was!
Everyone loved the snooker song – a master stroke from Sounds Commercial once more! And everyone loved the globe.
Please, please pass on our heartfelt thanks to the lads – and will be in touch again soon”
